There are documents online that can be referenced online at the Bayview Mackinac Race website under the menu item under Register/Doc than Monohull Documents and Info:
    • You still need to submit a PHRF certificate from your local authority. If you have it as a electronic pdf document it is now possible to upload it from your computer in the Bayview Mackinac Race web registration.
    • New! If your sail area to displacement ratio (SA/D) is above 20.9, you may be subject to a significant handicap penalty. This ratio indicates how fast the boat is in light wind. The higher the number, the faster the boat. Displacement could be brochure weight, IRC weighed or from other sources. The BYC Race Committee will use the SA of a) the largest rated headsail, to be used, b) triangle area of the main (no roach) divided by the D (displacement of the subject boat) to find the appropriate SA/D ratio.
    • The spinnaker tack line may be led to a spinnaker tackpoint or block that is mounted on the centerline of the boat, at or aft of the jib tack. The spinnaker tackpoint or block may also be tightly lashed to the forward side of the forestay tang. However, a boat may only have one spinnaker tackpoint for the duration of the race. The spinnaker tackline may be led through an anchor roller, or a spinnaker tack block attached to this assembly or any other type of sprit assembly, providing it is on or near the centerline and is no more than 12 inches forward of the head stay, and stays attached in the same position for the duration of the race. There is no limit to length of the tack line.
    • Two spinnakers shall be allowed on board during the race and assessed no penalty. A 3 second per mile penalty will be assessed for carrying additional spinnakers.
    • Open Bow Thruster credit - this can net the competitor up to 24 seconds per mile. To qualify for this credit a boat must have an open bow thruster that does not close or be hidden in any way.
    • Credits are available for roller furling depending on the number of head sails on the boat. This also could also apply to a main roller furler.
    • Credits are available for woven polyester head and main sails
    • Fixed or feathering prop credit
    • Fixed backstay adjuster credit
    • New! Electric winches and autopilot use are now allowed. After all it is a cruising class.
